COMIS STATISTICS

The JD's Commercial Management Information System (COMIS) has been in operation now since April 1992. You will recall that it consists of:

(i)
COMIS 1 - A time-sheet to be filled in one week, every quarter, by all staff (including Ambassadors) doing commercial work. (Since April 1993 small Posts (no 81 in the export league table downwards) do not complete COMIS 1 at all).
(ii)
COMIS 2 Statistical information about visitors, trade missions, trade fairs, etc.
(iii) COMIS 3 Statistical information about chargeable services, particularly Market Information Reports.
Now that we have virtually all Post returns for 92/93, I am able to let you have the following statistics:
(a) Various commercial statistics for 1991/2 and 92/3 by Area Advisory Group, mainly in percentage form - for example, the percentage of total British exports to markets covered by the European Trade Committee (64%), or the percentage of FCO commercial staff at Posts in the European Trade Committee's area (26%).
