We do a fair amount of it, but we are affected significantly by the marked increase (overall 11%) this year in number of visitors, particularly of senior visitors. Accompanying them on their calls on senior people in Hong Kong helps a bit, but they tend to receive briefings which we have largely heard before. Secondly, a fair amount can be done at the LE level from the desk: research, press reports, other printed material. Thirdly, one needs detailed nitty-gritty follow-up face to face at middle management level with companies and with the Hong Kong Government.

4. The level for this is Grade DS5 or 6. It is difficult to divert David Smith (DS6) to much project work. He supervises a very active BOTB programme and is deeply involved in detailed preparation for visits, trade missions and events like the Design Exhibition. He simply does not have time to do much else.
