MR GOODLAD'S VISIT TO PARIS 29/30 NOVEMBER

The Joint Directorate has been asked by Mr Goodlad's office to coordinate the briefing for his forthcoming visit to Paris. The draft programme for the visit is attached. I have listed below a number of subject headings, agreed with the Minister's office, on which briefing will be required. There may be other specific areas within these broad headings. have taken the liberty of assigning to addressees of this minute responsibility for providing briefing as shown below.

Asia general for calls at Quai d'Orsay SEAD general brief, FED French relations with China/Taiwan, SPD-UK decision to quite South Pacific Commission, Hong Kong Department - points to make. Suggested questions that the Minister could usefully ask during the calls would also be appreciated.

There will probably be a need to consult some or all of you on specific questions that Mr Goodlad is likely to be asked during the off-the-record press briefing.
