The
exercise (a CPX) would be low-profile. possible difficulties involved in holding the exercise in early
early 1995 due to the preparation for other purple exercises already scheduled for that year were noted, although D Cts Ex stated that to exercise JTP 30 by a CPX in Jan/Feb 95 would be acceptable.
D Def Pol raised the possibility of reviewing JTP 68 at the same time as JTP 30. ACDS (0) asked that the D Def Pol proposal be looked at in case there were any advantages in pursuing it in whole or part.
After Note:
It is planned to review JTP 68 in 1994 in any case, and the JTP cannot be reviewed effectively until the post OPD (K) Garrison ORBAT is clear. Revision before end 1993 is therefore not practicable.
C. Equipment Disposal. There is a lengthy three stage process of equipment disposal faced by the Garrison in HK. To streamline this, the principle of setting a financial limit below which BFHK would have authority for "disposal by exception", was agreed during a D Sales visit to HK in May 93. However, the Garrison still required formal authority for the policy to be implemented. CBF highlighted the efforts of the Army Equipment Managers to identify categories of equipment that would be required worldwide once released by BFHK, and stated that it would be helpful if the RN and RAF Equipment Managers could do likewise. CBF hoped that a disposal policy with the HKG will be agreed and finalised by 31 Oct 93, and if a tri-Service disposal by exception policy is be implemented by that date, the responses from the D Sales (Disposals), the RN and the RAF Equipment Managers, are required as soon as possible.
to
After Note: D Sales (Disposals) confirmed on 2 Sep 93 that a written authority for disposal will be issued by 20 Sep 93. Also, D Sales (Disposals) are writing to RN and RAF equipment managers to secure early indication of disposal policy for RN patrol craft, Wessex SH and associated RN and RAF equipment.
Finally, ACDS (0) summarised arrangements for transfer of command of BGN and Brunei Garrisons to HQ
HQ UKLF in 1995. DCOS HQ UKLF confirmed that the HQ was expecting the changes as stated:
