From 1 April 1993, HQBG will assume budgetary responsibility
From April 1995 HQ UKLF will therefore have a direct link to
BGN through HQBG on Gurkha policy and budgetary matters.
19. Command and control of BGN should be transferred to HQ UKLF on 1
April 1995, in order to coincide with the re-location of the Brigade
of Gurkhas infrastructure to UK. A direct communications link from UK
to BGN should be installed in 1994 and HQ UKLF should shadow the
HQBG/BGN BLB for the previous financial year. The composition of BGN
is unlikely to change significantly as a result of the change in
command status. Resolution of the future command, control and
communications arrangements for BGN should take fully into account the
similar situation and requirements that will apply to the British
Garrison Brunei from 1996, and which was initially addressed by the
Chiefs of Staff in CDS 32/9113.
HELICOPTER FORCE LEVELS
20. Helicopter force levels have been subject to recent reviews, as
required by the 1991 plan. Both the Wessex and the Scout studies
