BG), Training Depot Brigade of Gurkhas (TDBG) and 28 Army Education

has been approved by the Army Department staff.
FUTURE COMMAND ARRANGEMENTS FOR BRITISH GURKHAS NEPAL (BGN)
21. The 1991 Review
Review endorsed the transfer of command of Brunei
Garrison to UKLF in April 1996 and recommended that the future command
arrangements for BGN be reviewed. This review was completed in a HQBF
paper11 in December 1992. The paper concluded that only HQ UKLF could
provide the correct level of command and control as well as staff and
service support. From 1 April 1993, HQBG will assume budgetary
responsibility for BGN. From April 1995 HQ UKLF will therefore have
a direct link to BGN through HQBG on Gurkha policy and budgetary
matters.
22. Command and control of BGN should be transferred to HQ UKLF on 1
April 1995, in order
in order to coincide with at the re-location of the
Brigade of Gurkhas infrastructure to UK. HQ UKLF should shadow the
HQBG/BGN BLB for the previous financial year. The composition of BGN
is unlikely to change significantly as a result of the change in
command status.
