The Director, Royal Observatory is

responsible for ensuring the maintenance of essential meteorological and other services during civil disturbances.

Operations will be performed in their normal locations unless the manning situation makes it necessary to combine the functions of the Central Forecasting Office and the Airport Meteorological Office at one location.

The aeronautical radio beacon at Cheung Chau will continue to be operated as in normal

conditions. If, for any reason, the continuance of the operations cannot be maintained then the Director of Civil Aviation must be informed,

PRIORITY FUNCTIONS

Because it is difficult to draw a hard line between those services which are essential and those which are only desirable, it is necessary to lay down priorities for the provision of services generally :

Priority 1:

(ii)

Weather services for operational requirements of the Security Forces in the maintenance of civil order;

Tropical Cyclone Warning and Severe Weather Warning Services for Hong Kong;
