The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation will attempt to maintain normal services during a period of civil disturbance. However, if this proves impossible, priority will be given to the carriage of the Security Forces and to the import of food and livestock from China.

The KCRC has plans covering a wide range of
contingencies :
damage to the overhead line equipment;
derailments;
(a)
(b)
(c)
collisions;
(d)
bomb threats;
(e) train breakdowns;
(f)
fires on the railway or adjacent to it; and
(g) floods and typhoons.
These are covered in the Mishap Manual and Typhoon Procedures. This chapter sets out only the basic organization and procedure.
