B. FISH

Agriculture
and
Fisheries Department supervises the operation of the seven marine fish wholesale markets of the Fish Marketing Organisation and two freshwater fish markets. They are located in:-

Buyers, some representing more than one retailer, purchase fish at these markets and arrange for its conveyance to fishmongers in retail markets and fresh provision shops.

If necessary, the Food Unit will arrange for conveyance of buyers from nominated pick-up points to the wholesale markets. After having made their purchases, the buyers will be taken either to delivery points from which they can make their own arrangements to get the fish to retailers, or direct to retail outlets designated by the Food Unit.

There are large wholesale markets at Cheung Wan and Kennedy Town where the majority of the several thousand hawkers, market stall holders and shopkeepers of the urban area make their purchases.
