COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL OF NIGHTSOIL
11.
The aim is to provide a limited basic disposal service throughout any emergency period.
12
The service will be carried out in full day-light during curfew breaks. All normal routes will be followed but vehicles will operate a 'bell-service' and householders will be required to bring nightsoil pails to the vehicles.
13.
The success of this scheme depends upon early dissemination of information to householders through GIS using television, radio, etc. to seek their co-opration.
14.
Should the disposal service at the Sewage Treatment Works operated by EMSD in Sha Tin, Shek Wu Hui and Yuen Long be disrupted, or for any other reason the collection service be rendered inoperable, householders may have to be advised that nightsoil should be dumped into approved manholes, or into public latrines, which would then be flushed by the Departments' water wagons.
COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL OF REFUSE
15.
A refuse collection service (excluding street-sweeping) on a restricted scale will be brought into operation during curfew breaks. Publicity will have to be given to this in advance as householders will be required to deliver their refuse to refuse collection stops
refuse collection points during these breaks.
