The electricity

supply network (including also vulnerable to damage, particularly in the New Territories where supply is largely dependent on overhead power lines. In the urban areas, most locations can be supplied from more than one substation, SO damage to one substation would dislocate supply only for a short period. In rural areas, re-supply would take much longer. During
an emergency,
the repair of faulty much longer than usual; to rectifying faults which
installations could take priority would be given jeopardise security or safety.

electricity companies depend on supplies of coal and fuel oil to generate electricity. suppliers
In practice the companies and their normally maintain combined reserves adequate for no less than 30 days' usage, and often considerably longer.
