The Director of Broadcasting will be responsible during an emergency for ensuring that RTHK is organised to support the Government's information effort.

This may necessitate, in addition to the existing 24 hours news service in Chinese and English over RTHK's Own radio channels, the provision of broadcast material to commercial and TV radio stations and the deployment of Outside Broadcast resources to cover important events.

The Director of Broadcasting will be a of the IPC and will receive general directions from it.

ROYAL OBSERVATORY

The Director of the Royal Observatory is responsible for maintaining essential meteorological and other services during an emergency.

If normal services have to be curtailed, he will give priority to aeronautical services for civil and Security Forces operations, weather services for the Security Forces and other Departments which may be assisting in the maintenance of civil order, followed by the tropical cyclone and radiological monitoring and assessment.

disturbances or the imposition of a curfew.
