The Government information output would need to be co-ordinated centrally to a far greater degree than normal.

To this end, the Information Co-ordinator will chair an Information Policy Committee (IPC) (comprising representatives of the Government and the Security Forces) which will be responsible for co-ordinating all Government/Security Forces information efforts, advising GSC, and implementing GSC decisions.

A Combined Information Centre (CIC) will be formed in support of IPC and will be responsible for gathering information, briefing IPC and GSC, and disseminating information as directed by IPC. The CIC will be located on the 6th floor, Beaconsfield House.

Departmental Information units will continue to operate as necessary. The responsibilities of the Director of Information Services, Director of Broadcasting and the Commissioner for Television and Entertainment Licensing, are outlined in Section V.

Lands and Works

13.

The responsibilities of the individual Planning, Environment and Lands (PEL) and Works departments (Architectural Services Department, Highways Department, Building and Lands Deparment, Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, Civil Engineering Department, Drainage Services Department and Water Supplies Department)) are summarised in Section V.

14.

In the event that the situation warrants it, the Secretary for Works will establish a Joint Emergency Public Works Co-ordinating Committee, staffed by his Branch, the PEL Branch, and by the PEL and Works departments. Its functions will include :

monitoring the availability of

personnel and resources and keeping the GSECC informed;
