Before the Governor took up his job, I sent him a paper on the Future of the Political Adviser's office (enclosed). He told me after his arrival that he was generally content with it.
2.
With the Secretary of Security, I subsequently worked The result is also up the ideas in that paper in more detail. enclosed. It has now been approved by the Governor with one amendment. In Annex A of the second paper, a fifth post is to be added under the Political Adviser. The Governor was concerned that PA's Office might have too few staff for what could be some very busy subjects. I have not sought at this stage to try to define a precise portfolio for this additional post. That will be for Bob Peirce.
