completed the process, he may be offered a contract on local terms and conditions of service. If he fails to naturalise he will have leave the service at the end of his (extended) contract.

An officer wishing to change to local terms and conditions of service should also apply before 30 September 1993 for transfer, and naturalisation If necessary. Should the officer. fulfil all the other conditions for transfer, an extension may be given to tide over the period of naturalisation.

When he has successfully completed the naturalisation process, he may be offered a contract on local terms and conditions. If he fails to naturalise he will have to leave the service at the end of his (extended) contract.

For officers who have previously applied for transfer to local terms and conditions of service

These officers should be asked to confirm their wish to transfer to local terms and conditions of service before 30 September 1993 or before their contracts expire, whichever is the earlier.

Their applications will then be considered in the light of the conditions for transfer. An extension may be granted if necessary to cover the period of naturalisation provided that the officer fulfils all other conditions for transfer. If they successfully naturalise, they may be offered local agreement terms. If not they will have to leave the service at the end of their (extended) contracts.
