CSB has finalised its views on the Review Report and forwarded its comments and recommendations to WB. In general, there is inadequate justification to support most of the staff's requests. Staff dissatisfaction may escalate when they are officially informed of CSB's full deliberations.

Land Inspectors

The Land Inspectors Union has threatened that it would step up the present work-to-rule action if there is no satisfactory progress on its upgrading request. It lodged a mass protest on 24.9.93 at Lands Department Headquarter.

(c) Estate Assistants

The Estate Assistants staged their work-to-rule action on 1.9.93 (not to perform O/T work and not to handle public enquiries at Estate Offices) to express their dissatisfaction over the lack of progress on their demand for better pay scale and promotion prospects despite increased responsibilities. Housing Department has requested CSB to conduct a job inspection exercise to re-examine the merit of the case. Staff have warned that if their request is not entertained, more drastic action would be considered.
