confer on persons of Chinese race who satisfied the 7 years
ordinary residence requirement, but who were not British
nationals, a right of abode in Hong Kong without first
acquiring the status of
of British Dependent Territories
Citizen, by naturalisation or otherwise. Schedule 1 to the
Immigration' Ordinance now defines "Hong Kong Permanent
Residents" as :
"1.
Any person who is wholly or partly of Chinese race and has at any time been ordinarily resident in Hong Kong for a continuous period of not less than 7 years.
2. Any person who is a British Dependent Territories
citizen and who -
