Hang and Son had knowledge about the police enquiries on

Phuong during the tensile relationship between China and Vietnam in

the year 1979 to 1981. Both interviewees confirmed that Phuong was

by the police twice only: the first time for less than 24

hours in 1979-1980 for enquiries into his relationship with the

priests in the church and the second time in 1980-1981 for 3 to 4

days for his housing 3 Chinese friends. 1 repeatedly asked Hang

and Son whether their memory failed them that the second incident
