For an officer in categories (a) to (c) above, arrears of contributions will be based on the officer's pensionable emoluments on the date of the change in terms of appointment or marital status. As for an officer in category (d) above, the pensionable emoluments as at 1 February 1993 will be adopted.

Similar to existing arrangements, if the arrears are paid by instalments, they will include a built-in element of interest at 4% per annum. The amount of monthly instalment will not without the agreement of the officer concerned, exceed 5% of his or her monthly salary.
Changes in Family Particulars

The penalty provision for members' failure to report changes in their family particulars to the Director of Accounting Services within a stipulated period is henceforth removed. However, it is in
in members' Own interests to report such changes without delay. Members of the SSCPS or WOPS will, as at present, continue to be reminded periodically to report any changes in their family particulars to
the Director of Accounting Services. Failure to do So could result in later problems for any
beneficiaries.
Transitional Arrangements

To assist members of the SSCPS and WOPS to decide whether to remain in the respective schemes, the Director of Accounting Services will shortly send each member, via his department, a comparative statement of benefits showing his accrued/potential pension benefits under the respective scheme, and in the case of unmarried members, the amount of contributions and interest (if any) to be refunded should they opt to cease contributing (see Sample and Explanatory Notes at Annex VI). If a member of the SSCPS or WOPS has not received such a statement by 31 March 1993, he should make enquiries with his department.

If
cease
a member's election form to contributing to the SSCPS or WOPS is not received by the Head of Department before expiry of the election period, the member will be deemed to have elected to remain in the SSCPS or WOPS, as appropriate. A member who has not received the triplicate copy of his election form with Part II thereof duly completed
by his department as an acknowledgement of receipt within one month from the date of his application should make enquiries with his department.
