(a) three months'

(b)

salary in the case of officers who die with less than one year service; and

six months' salary in the case of officers with service between one to two years.

Nomination of Spouse as Recipient of Death Gratuity

Married officers may nominate, on a voluntary basis, their spouse as the recipient of any death gratuity which may be payable in order to shorten the time lag for payment. The nominee must be the officer's spouse at the time of making the nomination and no other persons may be nominated.

A nomination may be revoked at any time before the officer dies.

In the absence of a valid nomination at the time of the officer's death, the death gratuity will, as under existing arrangements, be paid to the officer's legal personal representative. The procedure for nomination will be promulgated in a separate circular.
