Regarding the policy on removal of British Nationality Scheme records, there has been no public statement on the matter. Our view is that because of their sensitivity, all records in connection with the BNS should be transferred to the UK at the conclusion of the exercise. We do not think that such records should be kept by the Consulate General in Hong Kong for obvious reasons. I shall be grateful if you will confirm this arrangement.
Mr. Bradley will get in touch with you regarding Hong Kong citizens in China.
