PRIORITY
OBJECTIVE

To underpin arrangements for concessional finance package of Guangzhou Metro Project
2.
To support GEC-Alsthom's bid for Shajiao 'C' power station contract.
3.
To increase interest in investing in Southern China by UK firms.
4. To support Shell project to construct refinery complex at Huizhou.
5.
To encourage UK firms to bid for international lending organisation-funded projects (World Bank, ADB) and those of Japanese OECF.
MEANS
Encouragement of formation of consortium of real estate developers for Metro Air Space and Land.
Gaining ECGD support for bid.
Promoting visits by British missions and groups of businessmen to South China investment areas: to utilise VIP visits to same end.
On completion of feasibility study, to obtain ECGD approval of support for project.
i. Visits to project manage- ment to obtain fullest information.
ii. Rapid transmission of such
information to UK firms/ DTI /CBTG.
