6.
Research into our files indicates that the cost of furnishing was in the region of £117, 300, with HK$698, 834 (£53, 102 at the going rate) for the adaptation of the flat. Those adaptations, it seems to me, were essential. I cannot imagine how Swire Properties would have let the Penthouse with three lifts opening into the sitting room for passers-by to look in. I question whether these costs should automatically be "written-off". The furniture will all be used and we should surely attempt to initiate a deal with Swire Properties to obtain some benefit from our investment.
7. I should be most grateful if OED could keep in touch with my MO on any matter of detail. He was not here at the time the Albany flat was acquired but he has done a great deal of research and is the expert on local procedures. We shall not be closing down for the Christmas/New Year period and this matter is one of our top priorities.
8. I hope to send some pictures and background infromation on the Repulse Bay flat by next bag but please do not hold up the submission because of that.
