c) the size of the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) is 107m2 which is more than their existing space: the SOR requirement is 140m2. Mr Smith stated that Security Department would like the BCC to be located in a containable area without the need for controllable access to the main offices. Mr Smith also stated the DTI and Joint Directorate had advised that 107m2 will be adequate for BCC purposes and they will not be prepared to subsidise the rent. The Committee agreed on 14 October that the area currently shown adequate that the Bee will have access to the commercial acitous pulites O
d) 12 is wrongly located on level 6 and should instead be relocated on level 8 adjacent to F13 (instead of

L18) level 6 will be devoted to Commercial Section and BCC.
e) an area is located on level 8 for the possibility of extra space for Passport records Passport Section's main registry and files are located on level 5.
f) the route to the staff rest room is via the side staircase and lift to avoid traversing C3, an open- plan office.
g) access to the gardens are at level 1 ( main reception of Consulate-General) and level 2 ( Resident's entrance). Mr Smith also stated that the garden areas have not been discussed/developed since competition stage and subsequently requested the Committee's views on proposed usage and ground rules on who should have access to the gardens.
h) the Committee's views would now also be useful on
i)
i) scope for reduction eg areas that are unnecessary or over elaborate eg gate house, car parking requirements, main entrance security reception at Ground Floor level and the route between Consulate-General and British Council.
ii) access controls between staircase lobbies and office areas.

The gross floor area has been calculated exclusive of plant and car parking. The Multi-purpose hall and its ancillaries at level 3 of British Council have been included in the gross floor area of the Consulate-General.
