3. Mr Smith stated that the plans had been seen and agreed by the appropriate FCO Departments and pointed out, during the presentations, the security measures which Security Department had advised are necessary namely:
a) air locks with metal detector arches to be located at entrances to Consulate-General (H2-ground level) and passport and Visa Sections (L49-level 1). The exits from H2 and L49 will be the turnstile exit only type.
b) vehicle air-lock at gate house (H1) consisting of ramp and arm barrier. The vehicle exit from the site will be a solid gate electrically controlled from H(1).
c) the doors to the British Council's lift lobby at Ground level to be electrically controlled from P1.
d) the British Council's Goods lift to have some form of staff control.
e) an air lock at staff entrance from car-park at level 1.
f) an electrically controlled door from G4 to staff lift lobby at level 1.
g) controlled doors on both entrances to G9 at level One.
h) both ends of the Consulate-General/British Council inter-link route at level 1 to have solid doors with bolts on Consulate-General side and PBCL's on British Council side.
i) the glass counters at P1/2 and P3 at ground level to be to B/R specifications.
j) the glass counters at L41, L39, L42 and L44 on level 3 to be to B/R specifications. The secure interview rooms L45 will be divided by B/R glass screens. The open-plan interview room (L46) will be divided by full-width desk and both doors will be controlled by staff. The entrance from the public waiting areas (L40 and L43) to the staff areas will be B/R ECL' s.
k) the glass counters at L22, L24(a), L24 and L16 on level 4 will be to B/R specifications. The secure interview rooms L25 will be divided by B/R glass screens. The entrances from the public waiting area
(L23) to the staff areas will be B/R ECL's.
