Adkins is, therefore untrue. Its falseness was known to competent authority in Hong Kong when it was made, and it must be assumed that the perjury thereby committed, was a conscious and deliberate act by the Hong Kong Government. 2. During the application for the committal on remand of Lorrain Osman seven years ago, the Hong Kong authorities assured Magistrate Hopkins, on oath, that all material and relevant matter had been placed before him.
The Government of Hong Kong did not disclose that their principal witness had made alternative statements, which would destroy all the charges they alleged against Mr Osman or that Jaafar had been induced to make the statement they did disclose, only after months of 'persuasion' by Warwick Reid. The financial nature of the persuasion, i.e. immunity from having to return about £3m in bribes, and a salary of almost £100,000 a year, including perks, for 7 years, was not disclosed. Nor were the political arrangements made by Bremridge and Thomas with Chooi.
