Gracious request ("requêta gracieuse")
There is no specific procedure. The "requête gracieuse" is merely the right available to any party affected by a decision of an administrative authority for such party officially to request such administrative authority to reconsider its decision in a request which sets out the reasons why such decision should be reconsidered.
A "requête gracieuse" is usually a prerequisite for exercising a contentious recourse ("recours contentieux"). The other main effect is to interrupt prescription.
If the French administrative authority concerned does not reply within 2 months (extended by 2 months in case of foreign applicants), the decision is deemed confirmed.
There is no special formate: it is advisable, however, that the request should set out in as much detail as possible the reasons why the applicant considers the decision has been wrongly taken or why it affects the applicant especially in a manner that would justify the decision being reconsidered.
