Subsequently M. Chauvy introduced me to M. Truce who asked me about the Saniman matter. He inquired about the first request and the history of the proceedings. He then asked me on what basis I said there were new facts to support the request. I explained my reasons to him as discussed with M. Chauvy and he accepted them. M. Truce suggested we should not arrest Saniman until a new request had been transmitted to the French Foreign Ministry. He said as the request had been refused on the first occasion that it would not be wise to arrest him prior to the receipt of the fresh request. He told me immediately upon receiving advice from the Foreign Ministry that a new request had been submitted, he would act quickly to arrest Saniman, M. Truce appeared satisfied that there were sufficient new facts to warrant a fresh request.
