PROPOSED VISA WAIVER AGREEMENT:
CZECHOSLOVAKIA/HONG KONG
1. At yesterday's meeting with the MFA to discuss the above proposed waiver agreement, Judith Holder was asked for information regarding the position of Hong Kong BDTCs and BOCS after 1 July 1996.

The MFA specifically asked:
(x)

(a) if the two categories would continue to exist after
that date, and
(b)
if their children, born after that date would qualify for such citizenship by descent.

I believe we will be asked further questions on the exact position of Hong Kong BDTCS and BOCS and I should therefore be grateful if you would let me have as much information on the subject (as far as it affects these citizens) as you may have. An early reply would be much appreciated.
