It can be seen that -

about 48% of the quota will be allocated to the services sector with the largest number going to wholesale/ retail and import/export trade (29%) and catering (15%);

about 25% will be allocated to the manufacturing sector with clothing industry accounting for 9% and machine shops 6%;

about 24% will be allocated to industries/services not separately listed; and

no allocation will be made to banking and finance, insurance, handbag and footwear industries since their demand is not great as reflected by either the vacancies or the number of applications.

Allocation by company within industry

11

Subject to finalization of the industry quota, allocation to individual company will be on a pro-rata basis. To avoid fragmentation of quota and to facilitate enforcement, the Steering Group is considering whether allocation should be made to those cases entailing one or two imported workers.
