I refer to your fascimilie message of 20 July which
enclosed a FAX letter from Mr Bradley, Turks & Caicos Islands making enquiries on issue of Hong Kong Certificate of Identity.
In general, Hong Kong Certificates of Identity are issued to persons of Chinese race who have been ordinarily resident in Hong Kong for a continuous period of not less than seven years and who do not hold and are unable to obtain a national passport or any other travel documents.
The Hong Kong Certificate of Identity is in book form with a stiff green cover and has 44 or 92 pages. It normally has a ten year validity. It is valid for travel to all parts of the world except China and Macao, Certificate holders are allowed to enter Hong Kong at any time provided the Certificate is still valid. No re-entry visa is required.
