EC - Sixth batch of Entrepreneurs Class applicants
ready for the Governor's recommendation
Purpose
This paper informs members of the sixth batch of applicants who have been invited by the Governor to apply under the entrepreneurs class (EC). Subject to members' agreement and confirmation with the applicants that there is no change in their circumstances, these 26 applications will be submitted to the Governor for recommendation to the Secretary of State for registration as British citizens under the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1990.
Advice Sought

Members will be invited to advise whether this batch of applicants should be submitted to the Governor for recommendation. A list of the applicants will be tabled at the meeting.
Background

Article 24 of the British Nationality (Hong Kong) (Selection Scheme) Order 1990 provides that the Governor may recommend an applicant under the EC if he considers that the applicant has made a special contribution to the economy of Hong Kong. The matters to which the Governor should have regard in making a recommendation are -

the extent of the applicant's investments in Hong Kong;
(b)
(c)
the annual turnover of any business in Hong Kong which the applicant controls (whether alone or jointly with others);
the number of persons employed in any such business;
