Compilation of the list of EC Candidates
Annex A
The EC Task Group first met in April 1990 to discuss the selection criteria for EC. The following sources were approached:-
(a) Director General of Trade:
quota holders and entrepreneurs in charge of major companies;
(b) Director General of Industry:
factory owners with more than 100 workers;
(c) Secretary for Monetary Affairs:
directors/major shareholders of listed company and key personnel in the financial sector;
(d) Registrar General:
names in the Companies Registry;
(e) Secretary for Home Affairs:
directors of Tung Wah, Po Leung Kuk, Yan Chai, Pok Oi and Heung Yee Kuk at that time and for the past 10 years.
The list of candidates was drawn up in October 1990. From time to time, new
names were added to the list from various other sources.
