(a)
assessment of "sensitivity" claim by responsible Government agencies;
(b)
verification of identity and post held, where applicable, by the Immigration Department;
(c)
checks on personality by both the UK and HK agencies to confirm that the applicant is of good character (this is also required of spouses and minor children); and
(d)
verification of relationship between the
principal
applicant and his dependant(s) by the Immigration Department.
5.
The 75 SSC applications in this batch, in which 53 spouses and 70 minor children are included, have gone through the above steps. Personality checks and verification interviews have not revealed any adverse information on any of these applicants or their dependants. All the 75 applicants and their 123 dependants appear to be suitable for recommendation by the Governor to the Secretary of State for registration as British citizens pursuant to Section 1(1) and Schedule 2 respectively of the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1990.
