At the Steering Committee meeting held on 1 November 1991, members noted that the quota for the Royal Hong Kong Police Force was under-subscribed (some 3,274 applicants competing for the quota of 3,282 places) and advised that personality checks and verification interviews should be carried out for applicants within the quota. Since then, members have noted the results of personality checks and verification interviews on 571 principal applicants and their dependants, and advised that their applications be submitted to the Governor for recommendation to the Secretary of State for registration. Recently, the Immigration Department has completed personality checks and verification interviews on another 527 principal applicants and their 426 spouses and 666 minor children. The checks and interviews have not revealed any adverse information on any of these applicants or their dependants. All the 527 principal applicants and their 1,092 dependants are suitable for recommendation by the Governor to the Secretary of State for registration as British citizens pursuant to Section 1(1) and Schedule 2 respectively of the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1990, subject to confirmation of no change in the applicants' circumstances.
The Annex shows a summary of the total number of cases in this group already checked and interviewed.
