At the Steering Committee meeting held on 21 August 1991, members considered the profile of Occupational Group 18 "Teaching Professionals" and advised that personality checks and verification interviews should be carried out for applicants who scored the highest number of provisional points within their quota of 334.
Since then, members have noted the results of personality checks and verification interviews on 179 principal applicants and their dependants, and advised that their applications be submitted to the Governor for recommendation to the Secretary of State for registration as British citizens. Recently, the Immigration Department has further completed personality checks and verification interviews on another 37 principal applicants, their 27 spouses and 36 minor children. The checks and interviews have not revealed any adverse information on any of these applicants or their dependants. All the 37 principal applicants and their 63 dependants appear to be suitable for recommendation by the Governor to the Secretary of State for registration as British citizens pursuant to Section 1(1) and Schedule 2 respectively of the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1990, subject to confirmation of no change in the applicants' circumstances.
