At the Steering Committee meeting held on 1 November 1991, members considered the profile of Occupational Group 17 "Legal Associate Professionals" and advised that personality checks and verification interviews should be carried out for applicants who scored the highest number of provisional points within their quota of 85.
So far, Immigration Department has completed such checks and interviews on 14 principal applicants, their 12 spouses and 15 minor children. The checks and interviews have not revealed any adverse information on any of these applicants or their dependants. All the 14 principal applicants and their 27 dependants appear to be suitable for recommendation by the Governor to the Secretary of State for registration as British citizens pursuant to Section 1(1) and Schedule 2 respectively of the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1990, subject to confirmation of no change in the applicants' circumstances.

Members' agreement will be presumed if no comments on the paper
are received by 9 May 1992.
