UNDERTAKINGS
Problem
1.
Ministerial approval for the attached list of 26 British Undertakings.
Recommendation
2.
I recommend that Mr Goodlad approves the names on the list
so that they can go forward to the Governor in the usual way.
A Departmental Legal Adviser has been consulted.
Background
A 3. In our last submission of 24 August we said that we would
be looking further into the status of the remaining 36 names
sent to us by Hong Kong. This we have now done and found that although the 26 on the list do not fall into the category of a firm or company, they are corporate bodies incorporated under the law of the United Kingdom. As such they meet definition (a) of our administrative guidelines (copy attached) and we are therefore satisfied that they qualify as British Undertakings.
