7. A spin off for this post is that we have been able to identify many more companies than were on our list before as being British or strongly British connected. This knowledge we have shared with the British Chamber of Commerce who also find it very helpful.

In all a tough task that has somewhat distorted the work of the post over a long period. It illustrates well that our work is not as totally trade orientated as some suggest. It has made what I hope is a useful contribution to the implementation of the scheme. It is important however that everyone should realise that the decisions taken could never be totally objective and that there may yet be controversy surrounding our results.
