Claims for

Unlisted Occupation-related Awards

Purpose

This paper seeks members' advice on the inclusion of unlisted occupation-related awards for the purpose of point scoring under "Exceptional Merit or Outstanding Achievement" category of the "Special Circumstances" head.

Members are requested to advise on the "recommended" and "not recommended" lists as set out in Annexes A and B respectively.

Background

Article 14(5)(a) of the British Nationality (Hong Kong) (Selection Scheme) Order 1990 provides that up to 30 points may be awarded for "the applicant's exceptional merit or outstanding achievement in the relevant occupation". Applicants can score 10 points for each award received, up to a maximum of 30 points for three awards. Only awards conferred on the applicant as an individual will be counted. Awards given to a company or organisation for which the applicant works will not be recognised for point scoring.
