I am writing to seek your further assistance in the matter of the Hong Kong citizenship scheme.
You will recall that I wrote to you in June 1990. Since that time we have had to wait for the quotas to be established. In June of this year it became clear that two of our technicians had failed the first round, and predictably they are now seeking to emigrate to more helpful countries.
Briefly the background is that we are an expanding business, with a high profile Far East operation based in Hong Kong. We have been predicting for three years that the key role of technicians who relate to our customers in their own culture and language would not be recognised. But these men have accumulated years of experience and are crucial to our exporting success.
We have already lost two key men to a New Zealand and a Canadian company, and simply cannot afford further such losses. Ironically we have just booked two major orders in the north of China which are dependent on us having these uniquely qualified people in place.
