WHY DID THE BRITISH SIDE START USING THE WORD "FREEDOM"
WHEN TALKING ABOUT STABILITY AND PROSPERITY OF HONG KONG?
- Not a novel concept: Hong Kong is a free port, conducts a
free trade policy, and has many rights and freedoms which
are protected in the Joint Declaration and Basic Law.
As Governor has said, Hong Kong's way of life is underpinned by its various freedoms, and just as stability and prosperity will guarantee its way of life so its way of life will guarantee its stability and prosperity.
