How is UK helping to re-settle Vietnamese migrants from Hong Kong?
Through:
(a) EC-led International Re-Integration Programme: 3 million
from UK in 1992/93 plus UK's share of EC contribution (4.6 mecu of total 23 mecu.
(b) Support for British NGO projects: £1 million since May 1990
allocated to 18 projects. Further £1 million announced by Baroness Chalker on 4 June. Aimed at financing projects which have direct effect on economic development of communities in districts to which migrants from Hong Kong are returning.

Further £900,000 committed under ODA's regular Joint Finance Scheme.

Government to Government aid programme to Vietnam announced in October 1991: £1 million over 3 years to provide overseas and in-country training in macro economic management.
HMG will participate in a Support Group operation for Vietnam with the the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) once Vietnam's arrears to the IFIs have been cleared.
