As requested in your minute of 2 December to Mr Appleyard, I re-submit the earlier papers about proposals for overseas visits by the Prime Minister in 1993. You planned to speak to Mr Wall privately about these proposals before writing to No 10.
2.
There are a few changes to the original papers:
under Firm Commitments we omitted to mention CHOGM, which will be held in Cyprus from 21-25 October
the summit with France will be a home fixture
the suggested timing for a visit to South Africa/Nigeria has been moved to later in the year, reflecting advice from Mr Goodenough
- the Japanese have now told us that the week
beginning 12 April would be suitable for a visit by the Prime Minister
3. I have amended the attached charts to reflect these points, including the possibility of a stopover in Pakistan as you suggested.
