LORD CAITHNESS' VISIT TO HONG KONG FEBRUARY 1992

1. I attach an agreed list of briefs which are required for the visit. A copy of the draft programme is attached.

2. I should be grateful if those marked would take responsibility for preparing the briefing in the usual layout liaising where necessary with DTI etc. Could I please have the drafts by noon on 4 February with a view to submitting them in final form in the weekend box on 7 February. This will allow time for any revisions or supplementary briefing before the Minister's departure on 12 February, (ie to reach his Private Office no later than the box on 11 February).

3.

PS/Lord Caithness has agreed that the briefing should be as concise as possible. Key facts and figures should be sufficient background for most of the subjects. Any points to make should seldom exceed one page of A4. Checklists will be principally 'memory joggers', listing key subject headings with essential lines to take only in telegraphic form.
