NEW AIRPORT
ATV and some papers quoted sources as saying that the Airport Committee would hold the second round of talks in February 1992 to discuss the tendering of the Western Harbour Crossing and the Government's investments in the MTRC for the rail link of the airport.
The investments being put by the HK Government into the MTRC would involve the allocation of land and an understanding between the two sides needed to be reached before the Land Commission meeting in March. The franchise for the Western Harbour Crossing would straddle 1997 and also needed to be discussed.
LECCO
The HK Economic Journal reported in an inside-page lead that D of A Nicholas Ng had written to Deputy Legco President John Swaine expressing concern over the slow progress of work in vetting Bills at Legco. If the situation was not improved, Mr Ng would be prepared to explain to Legco that a total of 110 Bills needed to be passed this session so that councillors would consider how best to allocate the remaining time in the session.
