SECRETARY OF STATE'S DINNER FOR THE OUTGOING GOVERNOR OF HONG KONG: 21 JULY 1992
I submit as requested a guest list for the Secretary of State's dinner for Lord and Lady Wilson.

The Private Secretary's minute of 21 May noted the Secretary of State's wish to offer a largish dinner with spouses. The Social Secretary tells us that the maximum that can be accommodated around the table in the Locarno Suite is 32. I have therefore limited the guest list to this number, but have provided plenty of reserves in case the Secretary of State wished to expand the dinner and hold it eg at Lancaster House.
3. As agreed, I have not yet asked the Governor to comment on this list. He may well have some personal friends whom he would wish to be included, particularly in the academic community. There are no really eminent sinologists who would qualify irrespective of any personal friendship with the Wilsons: I have not therefore included any in this initial list.
