LIAISON WITH PARENTS
The school welcomes close liaison with parents in all aspects of school life and organises regular Parents Evenings to enable parents to consult with teachers. In years three and five the parents will want to discuss possible option choices and there are other occasional meetings with the parents as a body, for instance, to discuss careers and tertiary education. Once a year the school opens its doors to parents to come to classes to see how the school runs.
Most students will progress happily through the school but if parents have any worries at any time, or indeed any matters they wish to discuss, they are invited to make appointments with individual teachers, with the Form Tutor and House Staff, or with the Principal. On the school side we shall always invite parents to come and talk things over with us when it seems that this could be helpful.
The parents have faithfully kept the zoo going.
THE SIXTH FORM
The Sixth form offers a wide range of courses from GCE Advanced level and Advanced/Supplementary level, through GCSE Mature courses to a Business Education course. In addition there is a core of general studies which, in conjunction with Senior Assemblies, Form Period and a weekly visiting Speaker's Hour, aims to broaden the students' perspective.
In the Sixth form, particularly in the Lower Sixth, students are given every opportunity to become leaders in the school and to take responsibility for a range of activities; the School Fair, the Junior School Camps, the trek to the Himalayas, the paired reading schemes, the Student Union, the Prefect system, the opportunity to run junior activities and to organise junior inter-House competitions are but a few of the many "hidden curricular" opportunities available. The school camps emphasize the importance placed upon these opportunities for the Sixth formers.
