I refer to our recent telephone conversations regarding Mr Patten's superannuation benefits during the period of his Governorship of Hong Kong.
Hong Kong department have contacted the Hong Kong government for details of any pension benefits Mr Patten might qualify for during his tour of office. This question has not arisen before as previous governors have all been civil servants and remained within the Principal Civil Service pension scheme.
Hong Kong department will be able to advise you of their progress.
Please contact me if you need details of alternative options should the discussions with Hong Kong be unsatisfactory
