Mr Yaxley telephoned this afternoon, and asked me to pass on the following:

First: When you and Mr Patten visit HKGO tomorrow, he wanted to warn you that there may be one or two photographers outside from the China Press. They will be severely policed and will be allowed to take photographs only and forbidden to thrust microphones at Mr Patten.

2.

He said he had sent a number of issues to you for decision over the last few weeks.

These are:

(a) the question of taking some official photographs for the Hong Kong Government (referred 12/5). [Hasn't this now been overtaken by events - the CoI phone call this afternoon?]

(b) He asked if Mr & Mrs Patten would be prepared to meet the traditional Chinese Community before they leave for HK (referred 12/5).

(c)
